A statement by the University’s Registrar, made available to The PUNCH on Friday, explained that the action by the management followed the extension of the ongoing warning strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of the University for another two months.

The statement which was signed by Information and Publication Secretary, Bala Abdullahi, on behalf of the Registrar, notified students that the management would also from the said date, suspend the provision of all municipal services to the hostels.

According to the statement, the steps were adopted to “forestall any unforeseen act of criminality, as well as the attendant consequences.”
