TOPIC: EZEKIEL AND THE VALLEY OF DRY BONES

TEXT: EZEKIEL 37: 1- 10

MEMORY VERSE: HEB 4:12, “For the word of God is full of living power. It is sharper than the sharpest knife, cutting into our souls and spirit…” (NLT)

OBJECTIVE: To enable Christians to understand how they can change ugly situations with the spoken word of God.

LESSONS:

  1. WHY THE SPIRIT LED EZEKIEL TO THE VALLEY
Last week we discussed the efficacy of praise. But today will be the power in the spoken word.
On the day the spirit of God led Ezekiel to a valley and showed him very many dry human bones lying on the ground, he was baffled.
So the Lord asked him whether the bones can still live again? He replied, “Lord, only you know”. So He told him to tell the bones to hear the word of God; for He will cause breath to enter them and they shall LIVE and KNOW Him. Meaning anyone who is spiritually dead cannot know God and worship Him in the spirit.
So why did God bring Ezekiel to the valley to observe how the bones would be raised to life, since He can easily raise them Himself? He wanted to teach him how to partner with Him and solve problems with the spoken word by faith.
  2. EZEKIEL PROPHESIED TO THE DRY BONES
As Ezekiel obeyed God and prophesied without doubt to the dry bones, he heard a great noise as the bones moved to each other and formed very many human skeletons.
And as he spoke again as God ordered and commanded ligaments and flesh to cover them and watched, they quickly covered the skeletons and became lifeless humans.
Lastly, he obeyed again and prophesied to breath to come into them so they can live and it was so. Thus they became alive and stood up. And behold, a large army ready to fight.
Have you seen why the enemy slew them? He saw their potentials and how dangerous they could be to his kingdom if ignored.
When devil strikes a person down with sin, he or she is spiritually dead and cannot fulfill purpose. We should therefore be careful how we live lest devil capitalizes on our weaknesses and pull us down.
  3. THE LORD SURPASSES HOPELESS SITUATIONS
When situation appears hopeless, remember that God has solution already in His word.
Notice that the enemy slew these to silence them. But Jesus makes situations to hear his words and revive as dead Lazarus heard and was raised. You too can hear Him and be raised, including every other slain around you.

CONCLUSION
I know the thoughts I think towards you, thoughts of peace and not of evil, and to give you an expected end.
“I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you”. Jesus said.
So, let’s learn to trust Him in all situations and receive hope by faith through Christ Jesus.
