The police have arrested three men when they were reportedly exhuming a corpse at Abule Sikiru, Sabo area of Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

The suspects were identified by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, as Sunday Aregbede, Salisu Mamud and Bosere Rasaq.

Oyeyemi said the suspects were arrested at about 11:30 pm following a distress call received by the police from one Chief Felix Obe.

Obe had told the police at Ilupeju divisional headquarters, that he saw the suspects digging the said grave, saying he did not know the intention of the people.

As a result, the DPO of Ilupeju police station, SP Mustapha Opawoye, was to have wasted no time in leading his men to the scene, “where the three suspects were apprehended with the already exhumed corpse.”

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects exhume the corpse in order to use part of it for money making ritual,” Oyeyemi disclosed.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole has directed the immediate transfer of the three suspects to the State CIID for discreet investigation.
