TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING THE NARROW WAY
TEXT: LUKE 13: 22- 28
MEMORY VERSE: MATTHEW 7:14, “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
OBJECTIVE: That the class would know the two kind of ways available for our choice to life or death.
- JESUS’ TEACHING ON THE WIDE AND NARROW GATE.
The Lord Jesus taught about two ways, the wide and the narrow. The wide or broad way is the one many prefer to use because it is easy but ends in destruction.
Little wonder, Proverbs 14:12 says, there is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end leads to death. Hence, multitudes go to church and hear the word but choose to live their own way (Matt. 7:13). But the Lord recommends that we enter through the narrow or difficult gate which leads to eternal life because it demands total holiness and only a few will find it.
- A DISCIPLE’S QUESTION
After the teachings of the Lord, a disciple then asked,…”whether a few shall be saved?”. Just as many normally do after hearing the word than ask for grace to live the message. But Jesus replied, ‘TRY AND ENTER’, for many would want to enter but won’t be able because of their unrighteous lifestyle. - THERE SHALL BE WEEPING AND GNASHING OF TEETH.
After the return of the master, multitudes shall be shut out for ignoring the narrow way. And outside they shall weep for mercy on seeing Abraham and the saints in heaven and shall knock desperately and claim to have fellowshipped with Jesus in their streets. But He will ignore them as children of iniquity.
CONCLUSION:
We should make good use of our opportunity now and use the narrow way of holiness to enter Heaven or be rejected as the foolish virgins.
